John Deere B
Serial #56444
1938 Model Year
This tractor was bought new in 1938 by my grandfather,
John J. Meyer and was used on the family farm near Dickinson,
ND, primarily by my uncle Fred Meyer, from whom I obtained it.
Needless to say, it is a very special tractor, as it has been
in the family since it was new!

In this photo, my grandfather, John J. Meyer, is on
the rubber tired John Deere D, my uncle, Paul Meyer, is on the
steel wheel JD D, and my uncle, Fred Meyer, is on the John Deere
B.
I started the restoration of B 56444, the same tractor
shown in the old photos, in the summer of 2006. The tractor was
totally disassembled. Here are some photos of the reassembly process.
January 2007, The wheels are ready. I just completed
my first test run of the engine in the lower photo.
February 2007, one more coat of paint, then the final
assembly. I did most of the disassembly and early mechanical work
on the tractor, while my son, Matt Boehm, did the painting and
much of the final assembly and tune up work to complete it.
The following photos are of the completed B:
